Hello, my name is Chris Coder.  I am an international steel executive with nearly three decades of experience collaborating with colleagues across Europe, Asia, & the Americas.


During my career I have navigated multiple industry cycles and global disruptions, including the Great Recession; the Covid-19 pandemic; continuous market consolidation; market-altering product innovations; and shifting regulatory frameworks.


My focus has remained consistent throughout: helping global steel producers identify and capitalize on "open paths" into the North American market - specialized niches that are underserved or not served at all by domestic producers.


In the course of this I have developed deep international acumen and relationships.  I have at various times in my career represented mills from Germany, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, India, Sweden, Japan, South Korea, & China.  I have lobbied before Congress on behalf of steel importers.  And I've helped US-based mills export their products back out to these same, and other, countries.


I was born and raised in Michigan, in the industrial Midwestern region of the US.  After graduating from Michigan State University, I settled in Chicago, where I earned my MBA degree.  Today I reside with my family near to New York City.
